GTO Box Set Vol. 1
GTO Box Set Vol. 1 Review

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE gto, I'm a hardcore fan of gto and I would live on a deserted island if only I had my gto (the manga), which brings me to my point. The manga is MUCH better .. not because the animation is bad (on the contrary I think it's pretty good) but because gto is such a plot filled story that in the anime all that plot was just sucked away. The most important details that in the manga explain everything and the clues and hints given to you volume by volume, are not in the anime. Regardless of that, is SOOOOO GOODD i recomend you to go buy it NOW !!! it's hilarious, original and has deep plot (not the kind of plot that u just want to puke and die, on the contrary) very good plot, and the characters are complex(more on the manga ..much much more). With that said, if u can get your hands on the manga before you see the anime it would be awesome and you will understand what I mean. There's 25 volumes with the 24th out now. Almost over .. :'(
You just can't get enough of GTO, it's an addiction, :D
GTO Box Set Vol. 1 Overview
Volume 1: Meet Eikichi Onizuka, a 22-year-old virgin and ex-biker. He's crude, foul-mouthed, and has a hair-trigger temper. His goal: to be the greatest high school teacher in the world! Volume 2: GTO, A.K.A.: Great Teacher Onizuka, is the story of Onizuka, a former motorcycle gang member who becomes a teacher to make a difference. Using his street smarts to deal with colleagues, students and troublemakers, Onizuka finds that he too has many lessons to learn! The hippest new anime this year. Volume 3: Onizuka mentors a young female student that has been ostracized by her classmates. The bad news, not everyone thinks this student / teacher relationship is healthy. The good news is The Great Teacher Onizuka doesn’t care what other people think. Volume 4: GTO must pass a nationwide test to keep his teaching position, is sidetracked when Young Hidemi, his nemesis, is kidnapped. The popular Urumi Kanzaki appears for the first time in this volume leading GTO on adventure after adventure. GTO might have met his match. Volume 5: GTO’s love interest, Ms. Fuyutsuki, flees the Academy in an attempt to escape the simultaneous disdain and affection of the students. She finds herself in the direct path of destruction. . .literally! GTO to the rescue! The lengths he’ll go to just to get a girl!
GTO Box Set Vol. 1 Specifications
Eikichi Onizuka is the teacher in every parent's nightmares, which may be the reason so many ninth-graders adore him. Built like a brick sushi bar, the 22-year-old Onizuka is a second-degree black belt in karate, a former biker, a foul-mouthed chain-smoker, and a lecher. But he's fanatically devoted to the idea of being a teacher and cares passionately about his students. Onizuka administers a broadly comic mixture of tough love and Clint Eastwood-style vigilante justice, which is just what's needed. Every student at Holy Forest Middle School seems to be a misfit, a thug, a bully, and/or the product of an unhappy home. Onizuka's actions bring him into conflict with parents, rival teachers, the PTA, various watchdog groups, and the sniveling vice-principal, none of whom can stop him.
Tomoko is being tormented by an ex-friend, so Onizuka helps her win the local beauty pageant--while ogling her breasts. When bullied nerd Noboru attempts suicide, Onizuka saves his life, trashing the vice-principal's treasured car in the process. He breaks down the wall that divides Mizuki and her parents--figuratively and literally--and is rewarded with her panties. Each act of kindness or courage wins a few more students to his side--and infuriates his enemies. Although the animation is often crude, with distorted drawings substituting for changes of expression, GTO exerts a gross-out, slapstick appeal. It's a long way from To Sir, with Love. (Rated 16 and older: sexual humor, profanity, nudity, violence, tobacco and alcohol use) --Charles Solomon
